We had a whirlwind weekend that went extremely smoother than we anticipated, thanks to a lot of help from family and friends! Of course with so much activity, we have a lot of pictures to share! Daddy started his paternity leave on Thursday, so the three of us were able to spend a quality day together. After swim lessons that evening, Nana came over to stay the night. We thought this would work out best for all involved, since Daddy and I had to leave the house by 4:30am Friday morning. To our surprise, we woke up at 4:00am to find 3+ inches of fresh powder and it was still snowing! It was slow going to the hospital, but we got there on time! After a few minor delays, Delaney Jae was born at 8:40am!
The rest of the day was a blur of hospital formalities. Riley spent the day hanging out with Nana at home. After he got up from nap, Nana brought him to the hospital to meet his baby sister. He was not quite sure what to think about her at first… She gave him a gift to try and break the ice, which he took to immediately (Hot Wheels)! He gave her a little stuffed puppy he had picked out.
Before long he was visiting with her,
kissing her,
and trying to share his new cars with her!
We got a visit from Uncle David on his way home from work.
Then around dinnertime, Daddy and Riley went home to spend the night together. Since I was still not allowed out of bed, Nana was on the schedule to stay the night with Delaney and I at the hospital.
Aunt Kristina came after work to hangout and help for a few hours, so Nana could have a break. She also brought us a beautiful plant! I think Aunt Kristina really enjoyed dressing Delaney up in pink pants with ruffles on the butt!
Papa came by to meet his first granddaughter.
We also got a visit from Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jeff, who gave Delaney her first pair of earrings!
Saturday morning, Papa came to the hospital to relieve Nana for a bit. Daddy and Riley stuck to their normal routine by going to soccer. After soccer, Daddy dropped Riley off at the Stewart’s house to spend the day.
Riley watched football with Mike, played with Hanna, made cookies with Alison,
and learned how to play knuckles with Jordan.
From what we heard, he did not want to nap, probably because he was concerned he was going to miss something! He did however take a little timeout to rest with Jordan.
Daddy spent the day at the hospital with his girls.
That afternoon, Uncle Ron and his family stopped by with an adorable outfit.
Before long, it was time for Daddy to pick up Riley. Nana was back on duty at the hospital.
Sunday morning, Daddy and Nana swapped spots. Nana went out to our house to hangout with Riley so Daddy could come pick Delaney and I up from the hospital! We were discharged and out of there before lunch!
Delaney’s coming home attire was put together almost exactly like Riley’s was. Her outfit and matching blanket were a gift from Nana and Papa.
The top blanket was made by Delaney’s Great Grandma Masten and was the blanket I came home from the hospital with. Papa brought us dinner Sunday night and we sat at the table as a family of four for the first time :)
