Forget Black Friday, today was our day to start prepping for Christmas. First stop, my high school alma mater to support the football team and purchase a tree. We have done this every year we have been back in the area and have a great time! There is something very entertaining about interacting with 15-18 year olds trying to sell, trim and tie down Christmas trees. A little disappointing this year, only because of the entertainment factor. With the Reed football team playing for the state championship tomorrow, the guys were getting in some extra practice while their parents were left to man the lot. One of the mom’s was nice enough to offer to take a picture of the three of us as we started our search. Yes, we were all wearing Wolf Pack attire on purpose, to show our support for the big game tonight!
Riley ran around looking at and gently touching trees. Since we will have baby stuff taking over the living room soon, we decided to reorganize how we setup for Christmas this year, which requires a smaller tree than we are used to.
Riley thought one of the mom’s looked a little cold, so he went and offered her his hat. Who says chivalry is dead?!?After a few times of trying to insist she wear his beanie, he finally accepted that he should be the one wearing it.
Once the tree was picked out and had been trimmed, a couple of the dads carried it out and tied it down to the car. Riley oversaw the entire process. I would like to point out that this was the best tie down job we have had in the five years we have been buying from the high school, I wonder why…
